Strand Antique Billiard Table

Nov 25, 2010

We finally finished up the work on this late 1800s billiard table. Our clients had just relocated from Rhode Island to The Strand in Dana Point, CA. The Mr. had his prized antique billiard table recushioned by an outfit in Naples, FL about four years ago. Unfortunately, the company didn’t have a clue what they were doing. They used the cheapest K-66 cushion rubber they could find, even when the rubber was still new it would not have played well. The correct cushion type for these antique rails is K-55. The typical life expectancy of average cushion rubber is 10 years, this poor guy’s cushions were “dead” after only four years. Cheap pink rubber, don’t use it! It’s a waste of time and money. On this re-cushion job, I used Brunswick’s Superspeed cushions (K-55).
