English Green Coin-Op

English Green Coin-Op

This recreation room in Orange, California had a major update recently. The Orangeland RV park clubhouse had new flooring installed and fresh paint and trim all around. We moved the table to a storage facility on the property before renovation began.

After completion, we returned the 8′ Delta Coin-op to its original location and installed English Green cloth. The standard green felt had been on there for three and a half years and was thin, faded and ready for replacement. The new color looks fantastic with the old time lighting fixture and the community was back up and playing nine ball for the Memorial Day weekend.

We stock many shades of green, as well as other colors to match or compliment your decor. Whether purchasing a new pool table or refelting an old, picking a color that suits your style is a fun and easy way to customize the look. View our online cloth color chart or visit our Orange County showroom for more details.

Rustic Dining Pool Table with Industrial Edge

Rustic Dining Pool Table with Industrial Edge

Southern California residents are fortunate to be able to spend a lot of time outside. This Costa Mesa family created an outdoor living space complete with dining and billiards.

The pipe legs on the Refinery Rustic pool table are a good choice for this covered patio game room. Our customers ordered a custom-fit cover (not pictured) to protect the wood, leather and felt from the elements.

The space this family created was multi-purpose and perfect for entertaining. Dine al fresco, shoot pool, watch the game, and relax on the sofas in the ocean breeze.

The Refinery has a weathered, scraped oak finish and comes with matching tops. Black leather bucket pockets compliment the black pipe legs and stretcher. Family and friends will enjoy eight ball competition on high quality cloth and great bounce from the K-66 cushions.

Visit our showroom or call us for more information on the Refinery or our other dining pool table conversions.

Bomb Shelter Billiards

Bomb Shelter Billiards

Basements are uncommon in Southern California, but there are some scattered around Los Angeles and Orange County. We moved this Brunswick Windsor into a basement in Rolling Hills Estates, California. During the move, we learned that this subterranean game room was originally built as underground bomb shelter.

Getting the 8′ pool table in was a bit of a challenge as the main entry to the room is a metal spiral staircase. The small drop down ladder at the other entrance did not prove useful to get the slabs of slate or large piece of frame downstairs. However, once all the parts were down, the room proved to be an awesome, secret hideaway/man cave.

Brunswick Centennial Carom Table

Brunswick Centennial Carom Table

One year ago (nearly to the day), we setup a Brunswick Centennial Art Deco Masterpiece in Redlands, California. The lengthy and difficult process of restoring a midcentury table, didn’t scare off our customer. He fell in love (rightly so) with his 10′ snooker table so much, that he decided to restore a matching 10′ carom table.

Back in 1996, I acquired seven Centennials when Right Road Billiards in Santa Ana, California closed down. I refurbished a few at the time, and kept one nine footer for myself. This last carom table needed the most work and sat shelved for many years.

The process of refurbishing was similar to that of our customer’s existing snooker table, though a bit more difficult. The rails and legs on this table needed additional love after 45 years of billiard hall abuse. They were sanded down completely, then restained. The aluminum went out for polish and came back looking brand new.

Once again, the nearly 70 year old cushions were still lively. The quality of this rubber is awesome! We recovered the rails and set out for this beauty to meet her sister. Antique tables like these do take some extra time and care. The frame went together smoothly, giving the giant three pieces of slate ample support. Brite blue cloth was stretched on the bed, then the rails and corners carefully assembled.

The finished project is a tad bittersweet. I am proud of how the table turned out and pleased it found home where it can be appreciated. However the completion of this project is a bit like closing a chapter of my life.

Rustic Goes to Los Angeles

Rustic Goes to Los Angeles

The Elkhorn Rustic is a modern pool table with an aged look. Our Glendale, California clients chose an eight foot dark stain to complement their 1940s home. The scraped wood finish of the Elkhorn adds character and natural vibe to the room. The pool table, also available in seven foot, features a 3-piece, 1″ slate for true roll. The K-66 cushion rubber gives excellent bounce. Steel Gray Teflon felt is a neutral color, yet doesn’t lack personality. Exposed bolts on the frame and aluminum rail sites are fun details.

Visit our Orange County pool table showroom to view this and other rustic models such as the Watson, Davenport, or Refinery. Looking for a more contemporary look? Traditional? We have you covered with well built import and domestic billiard tables at an affordable price.

Aramith Fusion in a Garage

Aramith Fusion in a Garage

Our Manhattan Beach, California clients decided to extend their living area into the garage. We installed their white oak topped Aramith FusionTable directly on the concrete floor. The Fusion dining pool table combination, with its patented lift lock leg system maintains level at playing height. The slate top stays true, even with the slope of a garage (or patio).

The FusionTable, available in multiple stains and finishes, is an all-around team player. As a dining table, it seats 8-10 people easily. Remove the leaves to expose a bar-sized pool table to entertain and delight friends and family. All accessories conveniently store within the table, hidden from view until you’re ready to play.

Placing an Area Rug Under a Pool Table

Placing an Area Rug Under a Pool Table

Getting Billiard Table Centered on Rug

We are often asked if it is okay to put a billiard table on a rug. The answer is: absolutely. We were able to get this Gustav Beach Manufacturing pool table in Coto de Caza, California aligned easily. The homeowner had the rug in place (and gave time for it to relax). The pool table light fixture was pre-hung in the correct spot, making centering the frame on the rug a breeze.

Pool tables can be placed on top of rugs. Even rugs on top of wall to wall carpet. They look nice and frame the space. Carpet can also dampen the noise of the balls, especially on hardwood or with a vaulted ceiling.

It is pertinent that the pool table is placed on the rug by a professional. Adding a carpet after the table is already setup is very tricky and will require a billiard mechanic with proper tools and experience. Remember, improper moving techniques can damage even the strongest billiard tables.

Pool tables can also be installed safely on tile, hardwood, concrete and other hard surfaces. We have custom shims to protect your flooring investment. Rug or no rug, the decision is really a personal preference.

Also, don’t forget to consult our game room planning chart to help you determine the sizes of our game room furniture and to ensure adaquate space for play.
