Zumasys Gets Game On

Jan 27, 2011

IT infrastructure provider Zumasys, Inc. hired us to move and refelt this Valley coin-operated pool table to their company headquarters in Irvine, CA. This old bar table used to be in service in one of Lucky John’s bars. From there it was sold to a Zumasys employee who set it up in his Aliso Viejo, CA garage as is. After a meeting of the Zumasys minds, it was decided, that Zumasys, Inc. will receive this fine Valley coin-op pool table. We moved the pool table from the employee’s garage to Zumasys.

We disassembled the seven-foot coin-operated pool table and started looking around for lost treasures. This old bar table needed new felt and really needed to be freshened up a bit. This 20+-year-old Valley pool table still had the Lucky John’s felt and lots of “bar essence” lingering around the inside of it. When we took the one-piece slate bed out of the cabinet we were inundated with the stench of cigarettes from the old days when bar patrons could actually smoke inside of bars. I had a great idea to get rid of the cigarette stench. By attaching Christmas tree-shaped car deodorizers to the ball return tracks on the inside of the pool table.

We refelted the pool table in Mali 10820-f black billiard cloth which gave the old Valley a much-needed facelift. And the deodorizers did the trick, I think I ended up attaching five of those little trees. Black Ice was the name on the wrapper, but it smelled more like “Eu De Stripper”. Anything was better than the former bar stench.
